Going in Reverse

Say you stopped in your tracks,
This very instant.
And the whole world
Around you followed suit.
Except that you could turn around,
See your footsteps
Leading up to you,
Something no one else could.

Everything a question.
Where to go,
What to do,
How to get there,
Nothing an answer.
One dim guiding light,
Leading straight ahead,
Along your own path.

If you followed it,
Would you find the answers?
Or only more questions.
An opposite view,
Would you recognise
Even if you’ve walked that path
So many times?
Would you even dare try
To find your way home?
