I Have a Secret

Hidden rumors and clandestine thoughts,
Unseen spies and quiet observations,
Words that are not meant to be heard,
And sights that are not meant to be seen,
These are what secrets are made of.

Delve deeper, however, and you will find,
That these words are not always jokes,
These sights not always innocent.
To these you will not stop and listen,
In these you may stumble into a world unknown.

I have a secret,
And with this secret I have a choice,
For with this secret I possess an ounce of trust.
Trust that I may bestow upon whomever I choose.
Or perhaps, upon no one.

I have a secret,
And I know who I shall tell.
Behind closed doors and through silent uttering,
My secret is passed along,
My trust is placed in another,
My secret is no longer mine.
